Extracting High-Purity Proteoglycan

At this time, Mr. Kudo Yoshihiko of Biomatec Japan Co., Ltd., started to develop and produce proteoglycans with high quality in mass production. Mr. Kudo subverted the acetic acid extraction method used in previous studies and developed a new alkali extraction technology to successfully extract proteoglycan from the cartilage. Through this technology, the duration of the extraction process has been reduced from the previous 3 days to 1.5 hours, and the extraction purity has been increased from 20% to 90% of the total. Alkaline extraction technology also reduces the cost to about 1 in 20, and the pilot study is moving toward practical use.
